Anyone who has worked in Ad Ops has heard at one point in their career that “Ad Ops is a thankless job”. We are finally getting to a place where the misconceptions on lack of growth and career path in this field can be put to bed. Ad Ops teams are gaining more recognition within their companies being viewed as a valuable asset and knowledge source.
Ad Ops professionals are constantly in the trenches with the ever changing digital space and their nuances. Everything from constantly changing and new emerging technologies, discrepancies between platforms, last minute deadlines, technical glitches to having to liase between internal and external clients and so much more! Ad Operations is no longer limited to setting up and managing ad campaigns. Ad Ops teams could also be working in programmatic buying, selling and optimization, publisher relations, SEM, digital product management and digital fraud protection to list a few.
How can one group keep up with all this information?
How are other teams dealing with similar issues?
Where do we go to find troubleshooting support or basic day to day inquires?
Through this need of support and desire for knowledge sharing came the birth of the Toronto AdOps group. Created by a group of Toronto based ad operation professionals for other ad operations professionals in 2014 – we wanted to create a place where industry professionals could find support and have open discussions about any topic relevant to their day. Topics include but not limited to ad serving, programmatic media buying, viewability, digital ad fraud, yield management, ad operations logistics, best practices, digital product development, data and analytics, et cetera. We wanted to showcase the community-first mentality of those working in the Ad Ops field right here in Toronto that are going through the same pain points in their day to day!
Our admin team comprises of senior professionals across all corners of the digital advertising world – from brand marketers to publishers and ad agencies. We’re dedicated to encouraging a collaborative community to share knowledge and network with peers. By ensuring there is open communication of relevant information shared to group members in forums and hosting regular networking events our group members benefit from a community of experts to reach out for support. Our group to date is 1,200 strong and continues to grow with members from Vancouver to Montreal.
